SARS-CoV-2 Replicase-targeting siRNA
This sequence comprises 21b of the genome encoding two polyproteins (encoded by ORF1a and ORF1b) that undergo cotranslational proteolytic processing. It is a replicase-targeting siRNA sequence that corresponds to the nucleotide location 629-651 of SARS-CoV-2 for ORF1ab gene. ORF1ab encodes for the replicase proteins that are responsible for SARS-CoV-2 replication and making more viral copies. This siRNA sequence works on inhibiting that viral replication by binding to the complementary strand of replicase mRNA of SARS-CoV-2, cutting it and thus blocking its translation, resulting in inhibition of virus replication.
